PRESCOTT, AZ — In a region where miles of open land often separate residents from essential healthcare, Prescott-based Physician Assistant Tammy Frost is working to close the gap, bringing personalized, patient-centered care to communities that have long struggled with limited access.
As a Family Medicine Physician Assistant at GRACE Direct Primary Care, Frost is part of a growing movement redefining how care is delivered in rural Arizona. Through a membership-based model that removes many traditional insurance barriers, GRACE Direct Primary Care offers longer appointments, greater accessibility, and a deeper provider-patient relationship, an approach especially impactful for underserved populations.
“Too many individuals in rural areas go without the medical attention they deserve,” said Frost. “I’m devoted to serving communities where access to care is limited, and making sure patients feel seen, heard, and supported.”
Frost’s path to medicine is both academically distinguished and deeply personal. She earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from King’s College, one of just 12 students selected from more than 1,600 applicants and previously graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Arizona University. Her achievements have been recognized with honors including the National Health Service Corps Scholarship and the Gold Axe Award.
However, it was a life-threatening event in 2008 that ultimately shaped her mission.
“I’ve often asked myself why my life was spared,” Frost said. “I believe it’s because there is still important work for me to do in medicine.”
That perspective now drives her commitment to patient care, particularly for individuals in remote and rural settings. Early in her career, Frost worked closely with patients in their homes, where she witnessed firsthand the barriers many face, from transportation challenges to limited provider availability. Those experiences solidified her focus on rural medicine and preventative, whole-person care.
At GRACE Direct Primary Care, Frost provides a wide range of services designed to address both immediate and long-term health needs. The practice emphasizes prevention and root-cause healing, offering care that includes chronic disease management, hormone therapy, gut health treatment, neurocognitive support, non-opioid pain management, and holistic approaches to autoimmune conditions.
The model also allows for a more personalized experience something Frost believes is essential to improving outcomes.
“Healthcare should never feel rushed or transactional,” she said. “Patients deserve time, attention, and care that looks at the whole picture, not just symptoms.”
Beyond her clinical work, Frost remains deeply connected to the Prescott community, where her dedication to accessible care continues to make a measurable difference in the lives of patients and families across the region.
As rural healthcare challenges persist nationwide, providers like Frost are helping lead the way toward more accessible, compassionate solutions, ensuring that where someone lives does not determine the quality of care they receive.
